A metal detectorist in Denmark has discovered a long bronze sword that has been bent into an “S” shape, possibly as part of an ancient ritual.
The sword and other artifacts were found in a bog northwest of Copenhagen. The discovered items date back to the late Bronze Age, around 2,500 years ago, and are believed to be part of a sacrificial offering.
The metal detectorist who found the ancient items immediately alerted the Danish Museum Group, Romo.
Romo’s archaeologist, Emil Winther Stroeve, described the discovery as a very rare find, noting that such items were not common even in ancient times.
