SWAT: Strengthening Participatory Organization (SPO) organised a one-day workshop in Matta to share findings from a Climate and Environmental Risk Assessment conducted under the PROAACT project.
Representatives from several government departments attended the workshop, including the ADC Relief and HR Swat, Agriculture, Public Health, Water Management, TMA Matta, Irrigation, Forest, Local Government, Livestock and Dairy Development, Communication and Works, and Rescue 1122. SPO team members and community representatives also participated.
The workshop focused on sharing and validating the findings of the climate and environmental risk assessment. Participants provided feedback and discussed priority actions to address climate-related risks faced by local communities.
Nature-based Solutions (NbS) were also discussed as an important approach for reducing environmental risks and strengthening local climate resilience.
The ADC Relief and HR Swat appreciated SPO’s efforts and assured the organisation of support from the district administration for coordination and cooperation with relevant government departments.
The workshop concluded with agreement on follow-up actions and a commitment to strengthen partnerships for climate resilience and sustainable development across Swat district.
The initiative highlights the importance of bringing government departments, communities and development organisations together to identify local climate risks and develop practical solutions.
