SOHAWA: A ceremony was organized at the Municipal Committee Sohawa to mark Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and the special directions of Jhelum Deputy Commissioner Mir Raza Ozgen.
The ceremony was held under the supervision of the Assistant Commissioner and Administrator Sohawa and began with the hoisting of the national flag, followed by a salute from a smartly turned-out police contingent. The venue echoed with chants of “Pakistan Zindabad” as participants expressed their patriotism and commitment to the country.
An Independence Day cake was also cut during the ceremony. Children and students presented national songs, the national anthem and colourful tableaus highlighting patriotism, national unity and their hopes for Pakistan’s bright future.
Plantation Drive Highlights Green Pakistan Commitment
As part of the event, a tree plantation activity was also organized to promote environmental protection and the vision of a greener Sohawa.
In a distinctive initiative, every citizen attending the ceremony was provided with a sapling. Participants were encouraged to plant and care for the trees at their homes, streets and surrounding areas, linking Independence Day celebrations with a practical commitment to a Green Pakistan.
Officials emphasized that planting a tree is only the beginning and that its proper care and protection are essential for creating lasting environmental benefits.
Special prayers were also offered for the security, stability, prosperity, development and peace of Pakistan.
High Achieving Students Recognized
Students who achieved outstanding results in the matriculation examinations were also recognized during the ceremony. Certificates of appreciation were presented to high-achieving students in recognition of their hard work and academic performance.
The Assistant Commissioner Sohawa congratulated the position holders and other high achievers and encouraged them to continue their efforts with the same dedication.
Former Member of the Provincial Assembly and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Raja Owais Khalid, DSP Sohawa Circle, Tehsildar Sohawa, heads and representatives of various government departments, police officials, teachers, students, parents and local residents attended the ceremony.
At the conclusion, the Assistant Commissioner/Administrator Sohawa thanked all guests, government officials, department heads, police personnel, teachers, students, parents and citizens for their participation.
He said Independence Day was not merely an occasion to celebrate for one day but an opportunity to renew the collective commitment to contribute towards Pakistan’s development, prosperity, peace and stability.
