ISLAMABAD: Two people were killed and a teenage girl was injured after the roof of a house collapsed in the Madina Town area of Islamabad following heavy rain, according to the district administration.
The deceased, a husband and wife, were reportedly between 50 and 60 years of age. Both sustained critical injuries in the incident and were shifted to a hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries.
A 17-year-old girl also sustained injuries in the roof collapse and was transported to a hospital for medical treatment.
According to the district administration, the roof was relatively weak as it had been constructed using mud and girders, which contributed to its collapse following the rainfall.
The incident highlights the risks posed by vulnerable and poorly constructed structures during periods of heavy monsoon rain. Authorities have urged residents living in weak or damaged buildings to take precautionary measures and avoid staying in unsafe structures during severe weather.
