Punjab EPA Demolishes 15 Polluting Units in Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA: The Environment Protection Department has taken major enforcement action against units violating environmental laws in Kolalwala, Gujranwala district, as part of efforts to control pollution and protect air quality.

The operation was carried out on the directions of Commissioner Gujranwala and Gujrat Divisions Muhammad Ali and Deputy Commissioner Gujranwala Naveed Ahmad.

The Environment Protection Department teams conducted the operation under the supervision of Deputy Director Environment Gujranwala Muhammad Imran Mew.

During the crackdown, 15 kilns and other sources of pollution were demolished for violations including the open burning of polluting materials, failure to install emission-control systems and repeated breaches of environmental requirements.

The department said action was taken against units that continued to violate environmental regulations despite enforcement measures.

Officials have been directed to continue monitoring and enforcement against units that fail to comply with environmental laws.

The action is part of wider efforts to control air pollution and improve environmental conditions in Gujranwala.

Effective enforcement against open burning and uncontrolled emissions is important for improving air quality and protecting public health and the environment.
