SARGODHA: Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has once again turned his guns on the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, saying his party is contesting the elections with “Zia-ul-Haq’s Muslim League”.
Addressing an election rally in Bhulwal, Sargodha, Bilawal mentioned that the old politicians were engaged in politics of hatred and division, pitting brother against brother.
He expressed that other political parties are not aware of the conditions of the people while he contested the election based on his party’s manifesto.
If he is voted into power, he assured that he will act on all 10 points in the fight against poverty and unemployment. Criticizing Nawaz Sharif, who is seeking a fourth term as prime minister, Bilawal said he has yet to deliver his manifesto and that people have suffered under him thrice.
Bilawal urged the youth not to waste their votes and asked if they want to give their votes to someone who is aspiring to become the prime minister for the fourth time. He clarified that he does not make promises like old politicians and pledged to work for the welfare of the poor in the true sense of the word. He questioned the fate of Pakistan, expressed concern about continued internal conflicts and emphasized the need for a different approach to achieve different results.
He highlighted the problems faced by his family, mentioned NAB cases and attacks on institutions. He emphasized the need to prevent political prisoners and expressed his refusal to imprison sisters and daughters of opponents.
Bilawal said the contest is now between the Pakistan People’s Party and the late Zia-ul-Haq’s Muslim League. He announced that he would form a government with independent candidates, while the lion would sit in the opposition.
Earlier, in an interview with a foreign news agency, Bilawal discussed the impact of today’s decisions on Pakistan’s youth and suggested that it would be better to allow them to make those decisions. He acknowledged the challenges facing Pakistan’s youth, given that about two-thirds of the population of 241 million are under 30 years of age.
On the issue of providing 300 units of free electricity, Bilawal mentioned that despite financial constraints, PPP has a plan to provide free electricity to the people. He also outlined firm plans for social protection programs and a new development model for Pakistan in response to the threat of environmental change, which are part of his manifesto.
Bilawal said that Nawaz Sharif is giving the impression that he is relying on something other than the people to become the prime minister.
“Nawaz Sharif wants to become prime minister for the fourth time through the back door, but we will block his way,” he said, expressing concern about the transparency of general elections.
Two days ago, Bilawal also criticized Nawaz Sharif while addressing an election rally and said that if Nawaz Sharif is elected to power, he will seek a revenge that will be remembered by all.
Responding to Bilawal’s claim, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Central Leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi said in an informal interview with reporters at Adiala Jail that if Bilawal knew that Nawaz Sharif would engage in vengeful politics, then why did he swear in the foreign minister in the government PMD?
