The Pakistan Navy on Monday commenced a national-level maritime security exercise, Sea Guard–2026, in Karachi to enhance coordination among key stakeholders and strengthen the protection of Pakistan’s maritime interests.
The opening briefing of the exercise was held in Karachi, where Commander Coast Vice Admiral Faisal Amin attended as the chief guest. Sea Guard–2026, the third exercise in the Sea Guard series, will continue from February 2 to February 9.

According to officials, the exercise aims to bring together representatives from the shipping industry, fishing community, law enforcement agencies, government departments, and the private sector to collectively respond to evolving maritime security challenges.
The activities include scenario-based drills and tabletop discussions designed to test and improve coordination mechanisms for maritime security along Pakistan’s coastline and within its maritime zones. Participants were also briefed on the operational framework and effectiveness of the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre, which facilitates information sharing among maritime stakeholders.
Vice Admiral Faisal Amin appreciated the participation of all organisations involved and underscored the importance of collective efforts in ensuring maritime safety and security. He also acknowledged the role of the media in raising public awareness about maritime issues.
Senior naval officers, officials from government organisations, and representatives from the private and fishing sectors attended the opening session of the exercise.
