Dr. Gohar Ejaz, Pakistan’s Minister of Commerce, was the honored Chief Guest at the Malaysia Day and 90th National Armed Forces Day celebrations hosted by Malaysian Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Mohammad Azhar Mazlan. The renowned event was attended by distinguished ambassadors, government officials, and representatives from both countries.
Dr. Gohar Ejaz, Commerce Minister, and Ambassador Azhar Mazlan discussed the blossoming relations between Pakistan and Malaysia, emphasizing the enormous potential for cooperation and collaboration in numerous sectors. Their speeches put light on Malaysia’s tremendous accomplishments throughout the years, underlining the need of expanding economic and diplomatic connections between the two countries.
Dr. Gohar Ejaz praised Malaysia’s exceptional economic growth, citing the country’s impressive 6.5% annual GDP growth over the last half-century, which has resulted in the establishment of a robust $400 billion USD economy. He went on to say, “Today, we should have been the fifth biggest economy as we are the fifth most populous country in the world.” Dr. Gohar Ejaz stressed the Pakistani people’s diligent and honest nature.
The Minister also mentioned important economic milestones, such as Pakistan’s economy reaching $330 billion and the $1.6 billion trade volume between Pakistan and Malaysia. In exchange, Ambassador Azhar Mazlan stressed Malaysia-Pakistan fraternal connections and expressed pleasure in the historical ties that have long linked the two countries.
Furthermore, Pakistan and Malaysia also have ASEAN membership, which provides further potential for collaboration and regional involvement. Ambassador Azhar Mazlan emphasized the presence of 5,000 Pakistani students in Malaysia and the possibility for future collaboration in the education sector.
Both leaders stated their commitment to increasing bilateral trade volume and thereby improving economic ties for the mutual benefit of both countries.
