TAXILA, September 17, 2026: The Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA) has taken enforcement action against three tyre-burning units operating in the Taxila area following a public complaint.
An enforcement team, working under the Deputy Director (Enforcement), took notice of the complaint regarding the operation of tyre-burning units within the area.
Following the complaint, the team conducted a field operation as part of its regulatory enforcement measures and issued Environmental Protection Orders (EPOs) against three units.
The operations of all three units were physically suspended on September 17, 2026, as part of the enforcement action.
The action was taken in response to environmental concerns raised by the public and to ensure compliance with applicable environmental laws.
Uncontrolled tyre burning can contribute to air pollution and release harmful pollutants, making effective monitoring and enforcement important for protecting public health and the local environment.
The complainant appreciated the timely response and enforcement action taken by Pak-EPA.
The agency said regulatory action would continue to ensure that activities with potential environmental impacts comply with environmental requirements.
