NHMP Advises Caution as Rain Continues on Major Motorways

ISLAMABAD, August 19, 2026: The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has advised motorists to exercise extreme caution as monsoon rains continue on several major motorways and highways across the country.

According to the NHMP, rainfall is continuing on M-1 from Islamabad to Rashakai, M-2 from Islamabad to Balkasar, the Hazara Motorway from Burhan to Shah Maqsood, and the Swat Motorway.

The Motorway Police urged motorists to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall and reduce their speed to maintain better control of their vehicles.

Rainfall can make road surfaces slippery and reduce visibility, increasing the risk of accidents. Drivers have been advised to maintain a safe distance from other vehicles and use headlights when necessary.

The NHMP also warned travellers about the possibility of landslides and falling rocks in mountainous areas, urging citizens to avoid unnecessary journeys through vulnerable areas.

Motorists have further been advised not to attempt to cross flooded roads or fast-flowing rainwater, particularly near seasonal streams and nullahs.

Passengers travelling towards northern areas have been advised to check the latest weather and road conditions before starting their journey.

The Motorway Police also urged drivers to avoid using mobile phones while driving and keep their full attention focused on the road.

For the latest information about highway conditions, travellers can contact the Motorway Police Helpline 130 or follow the official NHMP updates on @NHMPOfficial.

Authorities have urged motorists to cooperate with traffic and safety instructions to ensure safe travel during the ongoing monsoon spell.
