Islamabad, Jan 12, 2026: Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, in his capacity as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Board of Governors (BoG) of Bahria University, chaired the 55th meeting of the Board of Governors at the university’s head office in Islamabad.
The meeting began with a comprehensive briefing on the university’s major activities, flagship programmes and strategic initiatives. Admiral Naveed Ashraf appreciated the recent progress made by Bahria University, particularly in academic excellence, research productivity and the adoption of innovative teaching and learning approaches aligned with the demands of a rapidly evolving digital environment.

During the session, several academic, research and institutional initiatives were reviewed and approved. These included the reorganisation of Bahria Business School and the approval of a revised policy for Psychological Service Centers aimed at strengthening student support and the wellbeing of the Bahria University community. Amendments to the university’s statutes and academic regulations were also endorsed.
The Board was briefed on advancements in strategic development and innovation projects, including progress on the Pakistan Maritime Science and Technology Park. The meeting also reviewed and approved authorisation for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the China Sinology Center, which was formally executed in Beijing, for the development of a research facility at Bahria University Lahore Campus.
Expressing confidence in the university’s leadership, the Chairman said Bahria University is well positioned to continue its upward trajectory through the introduction of quality-driven initiatives aligned with emerging academic and research requirements. He emphasised the importance of character building through moral values, civic responsibility and personal development (Tarbiyyat), which he said remains a core element of the university’s vision of holistic education alongside academic excellence.
The meeting was attended by Board members, including Rector Bahria University Vice Admiral Abid Hameed, senior academicians, the Vice Chancellor, senior naval and civil officers, and members of the university’s top management.
