Two Children Drown in Indus River in Layyah, Rescue Search Operation Underway

LAYYAH, Aug. 6: Two young boys drowned in the Indus River in Layyah district on Thursday, according to Rescue 1122 officials.

The victims were identified as 11-year-old Muhammad Arsalan and 9-year-old Muhammad Waqas.

Rescue 1122 said its emergency teams rushed to the scene immediately after receiving the alert and launched a search operation to recover the children.

Officials urged parents and local residents to exercise extreme caution around rivers, canals, and other water bodies, particularly during the monsoon season when water levels and currents can rise rapidly, increasing the risk of drowning incidents.

The search operation was continuing at the time of filing this report.
