LAHORE: The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Lahore has launched the Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign 2026, introducing a free doorstep sapling delivery and plantation service to encourage public participation in urban greening and environmental conservation.
The campaign was inaugurated by Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, who planted a sapling at the Civil Secretariat in Lahore. Former PHA Lahore Managing Director Raja Mansoor Ahmed and senior government officials also attended the ceremony.
As part of the initiative, Lahore residents can receive two free saplings by calling the PHA helpline 1399. Upon receiving a request, PHA teams will deliver the saplings to citizens’ homes and plant them free of charge, eliminating the need to visit nurseries or PHA offices.
Officials said the citizen-friendly service is designed to make tree plantation more accessible and increase community participation in the province’s environmental protection efforts.
Speaking at the launch, officials highlighted that expanding Lahore’s green cover is essential for improving air quality, reducing the impacts of climate change, and creating a healthier and more sustainable urban environment for future generations.
The Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign 2026 forms part of the Punjab government’s broader strategy to promote urban forestry, enhance biodiversity, and encourage public involvement in protecting the environment.
