LAHORE: In a major development, Director General National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore Amjad Majeed Aulakh has announced the successful recovery of Rs 2.26 billion in housing scam.
DG Aulakh, during an open court hearing held at the NAB headquarters on Friday, assured the affected individuals that the recovered funds would soon be distributed among around 2,300 victims.
The open court session witnessed significant participation of individuals associated with various housing sectors including Pak-Arab Housing Society, Palm Vista Housing Society, Al-Rehman Garden (Phase-IV), Lahore Garden, Elite Town Housing Society, Ashhrafi Town, Wapda Municipal Cooperative for housing, Kasur, and concerned parties SB Mall, Faisalabad.
Aulakh interacted with Palm Vista sufferers who disclosed that they fell prey to deceptive tactics as they were lured by the concerned authorities to buy membership forms at exorbitant prices.
In addition, the management of Palm-Vista has been accused of deceiving the general public about another project called Palm Villas.

Plaintiffs from the city of Ashrafí voiced complaints about alleged harassment and the sale of counterfeit files by the company’s management. They highlighted the role of dealers (brokers) in misleading individuals and added another layer of complexity to the situation.
Aulakh informed the participants that a trial is currently underway on the references filed by NAB Lahore.
Those affected at SB Mall, Faisalabad, were informed that out of the 46 applications received, the total number of applications required must reach at least 100, with an accumulated amount of Rs 500 million, to meet the stipulated limit.
The ongoing court proceedings represent a step towards justice for the affected parties and provide a glimmer of hope for those who have suffered financial losses in these housing schemes.
