Mbappe’s move marks a strategic move towards a smooth exit from his club PSG
French soccer star Kylian Mbappe has turned his back on “several tens of millions” of euros in a bid to facilitate a possible exit from Paris Saint-German, a source involved in the talks said on Thursday.
According to a source involved in the negotiations, Mbappe has given up around €60-70m in bonuses to facilitate his exit from the club as his contract expires in June.
The decision, which is part of an agreement reached with PSG last summer, is seen as a strategic move by the star striker to pave the way for a possible exit without putting a financial burden on the club. Despite speculation of €80 million in loyalty bonuses and additional sums totaling €100 million, these figures have been denied by a source close to the negotiations.

Mbappe, who has remained tight-lipped about his future destination, has stressed the importance of the deal he struck with the club’s president to ensure the well-being of all parties involved. This deal basically protects PSG in the scenario where Mbappe leaves without requiring a transfer fee.
The footballer has secured a staggering annual salary of €72 million under his contract through 2022, along with a hefty €150 million signing bonus and increasing loyalty bonuses that reach up to €90 million by the third year. Staying in place until June without an extension to his tenure would potentially mean a windfall in excess of €200m for Mbappe.
Mbappe, who is now available as a free agent in the summer, can command a hefty entry fee from any potential club eyeing his services. However, both Mbappe’s camp and PSG remained mum when approached for comment on this key development.
