The encounter took an unexpected turn when Salernitana’s Chukwubuikem Ikwuemesi took advantage of Federico Gatti’s defensive misfortune to quickly score a goal within the first two minutes. However, Juventus quickly regrouped and equalized ten minutes later with Fabio Miretti’s strike.
When Andrea Cambiaso added another goal in the 35th minute, Juventus firmly stamped their authority on the game. Federico Chiesa’s precision paved the way for Daniele Rugani’s 53rd-minute goal to extend their lead. An own goal by Dylan Bronn from Salernitana in the 75th minute added to the woes of the visitors.
Kenan Yildiz and Timothy Weah further extended Juventus’ lead to seal an impressive triumph. Coach Massimiliano Allegri praised his team’s resilience and highlighted their commendable comeback after conceding early.

“Our reaction after the initial setback was commendable and they put in an excellent performance,” noted Allegri. “While there is room for improvement, this team is constantly evolving. Our primary goal remains to secure Champions League qualification.”
The upcoming Serie A match between Juventus and Salernitana on Sunday sets the stage for the second leg and promises to be another intense showdown. Meanwhile, in the quarter-finals, Juventus are set to face Frosinone, who knocked out Napoli in the previous round with a commanding 4-0 victory.
The Italian giants’ six-goal display against Salernitana marked a significant achievement and was the first instance since their 7-0 triumph over Sassuolo in February 2018.
