KP Forest Department Seizes Suzuki Carry Loaded with Illegal Timber

HAZARA: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Forest Department has seized a Suzuki Carry vehicle loaded with illegally transported timber as part of its ongoing anti-smuggling campaign.

The operation was conducted on the directions of the KP government and Secretary Forests, under the supervision of the Chief Conservator of Forests, Hazara Region, and the Conservator, Lower Hazara.

The action was carried out by the field staff under the supervision of the Sub-Divisional Forest Officer (SDFO), Jaboori, following special directions from the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Siran Division.

The vehicle and timber have been taken into official custody, while further legal proceedings have been initiated against those involved.

The Forest Department said legal action was being taken under the relevant provisions of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Forest Ordinance, 2002.

Further investigation is underway to identify all individuals involved in illegal tree cutting, transportation and timber smuggling.

The department reiterated its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against forest crimes, illegal logging and timber smuggling.

It said intelligence-based operations, night patrols and effective legal action would continue to protect the province’s valuable forest resources.

Strict enforcement against illegal timber trade is important for protecting forests, biodiversity and the natural ecosystems that support local communities and help strengthen climate resilience.
