ISLAMABAD: The Indus River System Authority (IRSA) on Friday released 293,100 cusecs of water from the country’s major reservoirs and river control points, while total inflows reached 367,300 cusecs, reflecting increased river flows during the ongoing monsoon season.
According to IRSA’s daily water report, the water level at Tarbela Dam on the Indus River stood at 1,493.70 feet, which is 91.70 feet above its dead level of 1,402.00 feet. Water inflow into the reservoir was recorded at 213,700 cusecs, while the outflow stood at 159,300 cusecs.
At Mangla Dam on the Jhelum River, the water level reached 1,169.20 feet, remaining 119.20 feet above the dead level of 1,050 feet. The dam received an inflow of 31,800 cusecs, while 12,000 cusecs of water was released downstream.
IRSA reported that water releases at key barrages and river stations included 212,800 cusecs at Kalabagh, 180,100 cusecs at Taunsa, 121,700 cusecs at Guddu, and 52,800 cusecs at Sukkur.
Meanwhile, 42,800 cusecs of water was recorded in the Kabul River at Nowshera, while the Chenab River at Marala carried a flow of 49,100 cusecs.
The latest figures indicate rising water availability across Pakistan’s river system as monsoon rains continue to increase inflows into major reservoirs, supporting irrigation supplies while requiring close monitoring of river conditions during the flood season.
