In India, a groom was left in shock when neither the bride nor the wedding hall he had been promised materialized.
According to Indian media reports, police revealed that 24-year-old Deepak Kumar traveled from Dubai to Punjab, India, to get married. He had met Manpreet three years earlier on Instagram, but the two had never met in person.
Deepak returned from Dubai a month ago for the wedding, which was arranged through phone conversations with Manpreet’s family. On the wedding day, Deepak and his family traveled to Moga with the wedding party to a hall supposedly booked by the bride’s family. However, upon arrival, they discovered there was no such venue called “Rose Garden Palace” in Moga.
The groom revealed that he had only communicated with Manpreet on Instagram and had never met her in person. The girl’s family had allegedly finalized the wedding arrangements over the phone and even requested ₹50,000 for the event, which Deepak had paid.
Deepak’s father, Prem Chand, stated that they had rented taxis, arranged catering, and hired a videographer for the occasion.
Police have registered a case against the bride’s family based on Deepak’s complaint and have initiated further investigation into the matter.
