SKARDU: The Forest Department actively participated in a stakeholders’ meeting on plant health challenges in agriculture and forestry in Gilgit-Baltistan, organised by EvK2CNR Pakistan at the Agriculture Complex, Skardu, on September 17, 2026.
The meeting brought together experts, stakeholders and relevant departments to discuss emerging challenges affecting agriculture and forests, share technical knowledge and explore sustainable solutions for improving plant health and forest ecosystem management.
On the same day, a certificate distribution ceremony was held at the University of Baltistan, Skardu, to recognise participants who successfully completed a seven-day training programme on phytopathology laboratory practices, organised by EvK2CNR Pakistan.
The training aimed to strengthen participants’ technical skills in identifying plant diseases, conducting laboratory work and applying scientific methods to agricultural and forestry development.
The Forest Department appreciated collaborative initiatives that promote research, professional capacity building and the sustainable management of natural resources in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Such cooperation can help strengthen plant health expertise and support the long-term protection of agricultural resources and forest ecosystems across the region.
