ABBOTTABAD: The Forest Department has intensified its crackdown against illegal timber smuggling as part of its zero-tolerance policy, seizing illegally cut timber and a vehicle allegedly involved in its transportation in the Guldania area.
The action was carried out on the directions of DFO Galiyat Bilal Ahmad and under the supervision of SDFO Thandiani Inayat Khan. Acting on verified information, forest officials promptly reached the area and intercepted the suspected timber smugglers.
During the operation, the forest staff seized illegally felled timber along with the vehicle allegedly being used for its transportation. The seized material and vehicle were taken into official custody, while legal proceedings against the accused have been initiated under the relevant provisions of the Forest Ordinance 2002.
SDFO Thandiani Inayat Khan appreciated the efforts of the forest teams involved in the operation and reiterated the department’s commitment to protecting the region’s valuable forest resources.
He said illegal cutting and transportation of timber would not be tolerated under any circumstances and that action against elements involved in forest offences would continue.
The Forest Department has maintained that effective enforcement is essential not only to protect forest resources but also to preserve biodiversity, maintain ecological balance and strengthen environmental resilience in the region.
The latest operation is being viewed as part of continued efforts by the department to curb illegal logging and timber smuggling and safeguard forests for future generations.
