BANNU: The Bannu Wildlife Division has intensified enforcement against illegal hunting and trapping of quail, with the Ghazni Khel Raid Party carrying out a successful field operation against individuals allegedly involved in wildlife offences.
The operation was conducted on the instructions of the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Bannu, as part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal hunting and protect wildlife in the district.
The offenders were dealt with in accordance with the law and fined under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Act, 2015.
The Bannu Wildlife Division said it remains committed to protecting wildlife resources and ensuring strict action against illegal hunting and trapping activities.
Quail and other wild birds are an important part of local ecosystems, and uncontrolled hunting can place additional pressure on wildlife populations, particularly when breeding and migration patterns are disrupted.
The latest enforcement activity highlights the importance of regular field patrols, timely action and implementation of wildlife protection laws to deter illegal activities and conserve biodiversity.
The Bannu Wildlife Division reiterated its zero-tolerance approach toward wildlife crime and encouraged continued vigilance to safeguard the province’s natural heritage.
