ISLAMABAD: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited the National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) at the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Headquarters, where he was briefed on Pakistan’s national disaster preparedness, operational capabilities, and technology-driven emergency response mechanisms.
During the visit, Chairman NDMA Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik gave a comprehensive briefing on the authority’s disaster management framework, highlighting ongoing preparedness measures, emergency response coordination, early warning systems, and the integration of advanced technologies to enhance disaster risk management across the country.
The briefing also covered the NDMA’s efforts to strengthen coordination among federal and provincial institutions, improve situational awareness through the National Emergencies Operation Centre, and ensure timely response to natural disasters, particularly during the ongoing monsoon season.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir appreciated the NDMA’s efforts to enhance national resilience and disaster response capacity. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a high level of operational preparedness and ensuring timely, coordinated responses to emergencies in order to safeguard lives and property.
He reaffirmed the Pakistan Armed Forces’ unwavering commitment to supporting the civil administration and the NDMA in disaster preparedness, emergency response, rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts whenever required.
The visit underscored the importance of close civil-military coordination in strengthening Pakistan’s disaster management system and enhancing the country’s ability to respond effectively to natural and climate-induced emergencies.
