Famous British pop singer and songwriter Marianne Faithfull has passed away at the age of 78.
According to foreign media, Marianne Faithfull’s music promotional company, Republic Media, confirmed her death, stating, “It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of singer, songwriter, and actress Marianne Faithfull.”
Faithfull’s music career began when she met the Rolling Stones’ manager at a party and recorded “As Tears Go By” at the age of just 17 in 1964. The song became popular in both the UK and the US, leading to numerous hit singles and two albums.
Following her death, fellow singers and artists have expressed their condolences. Mick Jagger expressed his sadness, saying, “She was a part of my life for a long time, a great friend, a beautiful singer, and a wonderful actress.”
It is worth noting that Marianne’s life was marked by ups and downs. She struggled with drug addiction and was homeless for a period. However, in 1979, she made a remarkable comeback with her album “Broken English.” Later, she reshaped her life and described it as an extraordinary experience.
