PESHAWAR: Wildlife officials have intercepted a vehicle at the Peshawar Motorway Toll Plaza and recovered a falcon that was allegedly being transported illegally to Karachi.
The action was carried out by staff of the Peshawar Wildlife Range during a special enforcement operation on the directions of DFO Wildlife Peshawar Mrs. Manahil Wahab.
According to wildlife officials, the team stopped vehicle BSJ-444 and recovered one falcon from the vehicle. The driver was identified as Rizwanullah, son of Haroon Muhammad, a resident of Hafizabad, Peshawar.

The confiscated falcon has been taken into official custody, while legal proceedings are being initiated against the accused under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife & Biodiversity Act, 2015.
Wildlife authorities said enforcement actions are important to prevent the illegal capture and transportation of protected wildlife. Falcons are part of the region’s natural biodiversity, and illegal wildlife trade can place additional pressure on wild populations.
The operation highlights the role of wildlife enforcement teams in monitoring transportation routes and preventing the illegal movement of wild animals and birds.
Continued enforcement, public cooperation and greater awareness can help protect Pakistan’s wildlife and conserve its natural biodiversity for future generations.
