Europe Bans Certain AI Systems

Under new guidelines introduced by the European Union, AI systems capable of detecting employees’ emotions through webcams and voice recognition have been banned in Europe.

According to news agencies, from August 2 onwards, AI technology used by websites to manipulate people into spending money will also be prohibited across EU countries.

The Artificial Intelligence Act, formulated by the European Commission last year, is the world’s first comprehensive set of AI regulations aimed at protecting people from AI-driven discrimination, harassment, and fraud.

As per the new directives, employers will no longer be allowed to use webcams or voice recognition systems to track employees’ emotions. Additionally, AI-powered facial recognition technology in mobile CCTV cameras for law enforcement purposes will also be restricted, with some exceptions.
