MARDAN, September 16, 2026: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has stepped up environmental monitoring of hotels in Mardan to check compliance with environmental laws and pollution control requirements.
On the directives of the Director General EPA-KP, the agency’s Divisional Office Mardan conducted monitoring visits to various hotels in the district on September 15.
During the inspections, officials found poor environmental conditions at some premises and observed the direct discharge of sewage water.
The concerned hotel managements were informed about the required environmental standards and directed to address the identified issues.
EPA-KP said further action would be taken against violators in accordance with the provisions of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Environmental Protection Act, 2014.
The discharge of untreated wastewater can contribute to pollution of water resources and create risks for the environment and public health, making proper wastewater management an important part of environmental compliance.
EPA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said it remains committed to strengthening environmental monitoring, controlling pollution sources and enforcing environmental laws across the province.
