GUJRANWALA: Environmental authorities in Gujranwala have intensified action against businesses violating environmental regulations as part of the Punjab government’s efforts to ensure a clean and healthy environment.
The enforcement drive is being carried out under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and on the directions of Commissioner Gujranwala and Gujrat Division Muhammad Ali and Deputy Commissioner Gujranwala Naveed Ahmed.
The inspections are being conducted under the supervision of Deputy Director Environment Gujranwala Engineer Imran Mayo, with teams monitoring compliance across various commercial and industrial units.
During inspections of pyrolysis plants, car washes and other business establishments, environmental officials identified violations including non-compliance with environmental regulations and the absence or non-functioning of required water recycling systems.
Several non-compliant units were subsequently sealed for violating environmental requirements.
The environmental teams also issued notices to barbecue shops, directing them to ensure the installation and proper functioning of suction hoods to control smoke and emissions generated during cooking operations.
Meanwhile, businesses found to be fully complying with applicable environmental regulations were declared “Compliant” following inspection.
Officials reiterated that environmental laws would be enforced without discrimination and warned businesses to ensure that required pollution-control and water-recycling measures remain operational.
The ongoing inspections are part of Punjab’s broader efforts to strengthen environmental enforcement, reduce pollution and promote sustainable business practices across the province.
Authorities urged business owners to voluntarily comply with environmental standards to avoid enforcement action and contribute to cleaner air, better water management and a healthier Punjab.
