ISLAMABAD: In preparation for the upcoming 2024 elections to be held on February 8, Pakistan has mobilized a large deployment of security personnel across the country.
Authorities announced the deployment of 106,942 Rapid Response Force personnel along with 23,940 security personnel on permanent duty.
In addition, 130,882 Pakistan Army and Civilian Armed Forces personnel will have a significant presence on electoral duty. The deployment also includes a sizeable contingent of 465,736 police officers deployed across the country.

Specifically, Punjab will witness the deployment of 216,000 policemen, while Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will see 92,535 and 110,720 policemen respectively. In Balochistan, 46,481 police officers are proposed for duty during the election process.
ISLAMABAD SECURITY
Security measures have been tightened in the capital, Islamabad, with police and jawans already stationed at polling stations. Around 6,500 police officers will be on duty overnight, along with the deployment of 1,000 members of the Rapid Reaction Force (RFC) and 1,500 Rangers. In addition, Pakistani military officials are ready to join the security effort.
The Islamabad police emphasized the paramount importance of the safety of citizens and ensuring peaceful elections. They set up a central dispatch center in Safe City to oversee election-related matters. The emphasis is on strict adherence to the Election Commission’s code of ethics with zero tolerance for violations such as display of weapons, aerial firing and rioting.
In addition, measures were taken to support journalists covering the elections, as well as foreign observers and observation teams. This robust security deployment aims to facilitate a smooth and secure electoral process across Pakistan.
