CHARSADDA: The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Branch, in partnership with the German Red Cross (GRC) and with financial support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), organized a Stakeholders Consultative Workshop on the Climate Change District Adaptation Plan (CCDAP) for District Charsadda.
The workshop was organized under the Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) Unit and brought together representatives from key government departments, academia and international and national non-governmental organizations.
Participants reviewed the district’s major climate risks and vulnerabilities and discussed priority adaptation measures that could be piloted in Charsadda.
The consultation focused on translating the Climate Change District Adaptation Plan into practical and locally led solutions that address the specific challenges faced by communities in the district.
The workshop also emphasized the importance of stronger institutional coordination, disaster preparedness and community-focused climate action to improve Charsadda’s capacity to cope with increasing climate-related risks.
The initiative reflects growing efforts to move from climate risk assessment and planning towards practical adaptation measures at the local level, particularly in vulnerable districts.
PRCS KP, GRC and their partners said continued collaboration among government institutions, development partners, civil society and local communities would be essential for building climate-resilient communities.
The workshop marks an important step towards strengthening district-level climate governance and developing adaptation actions tailored to the needs and vulnerabilities of Charsadda.
