ABBOTTABAD: Ghazi Barotha Taraqiati Idara (GBTI), under its Self-Help Initiative, has organized a community-based plantation drive in Village Sultan Pur, Havelian, and Village Mangal Chanar in District Abbottabad.
The initiative aims to promote environmental awareness, strengthen community participation and encourage local ownership for the protection and long-term care of newly planted trees.
A large number of community members actively participated in the plantation activities and pledged to take responsibility for the care, protection and sustainable growth of the planted saplings.
As part of the broader initiative, more than 5,700 fruit plants are being delivered across District Abbottabad. The distribution of fruit-bearing plants is expected to contribute not only to greener communities but also to improved household livelihoods and environmental sustainability.
The community-led approach places local residents at the centre of plantation and conservation efforts, encouraging them to view trees as long-term community assets rather than simply plantation targets.
GBTI said such initiatives are aimed at expanding green spaces, promoting environmental conservation and strengthening community involvement in sustainable development.
The plantation drive also highlights the importance of combining climate action, environmental protection and livelihood opportunities at the grassroots level.
Through continued community participation and responsible care of planted trees, initiatives such as these can contribute to a cleaner, greener and more resilient Abbottabad and a healthier Pakistan.
