Chakwal EPA Holds Consultative Meetings Ahead of Upcoming Smog Season

CHAKWAL: The Environmental Protection Department Chakwal has initiated consultations with representatives of industrial and business sectors ahead of the upcoming smog season, with a focus on strengthening compliance with environmental regulations and implementing preventive measures.

In the first phase, meetings were held with brick kiln owners’ associations from Chakwal and Talagang. Officials stressed the need for complete compliance with zigzag technology, elimination of black smoke emissions and strict adherence to prescribed environmental standards.

In the second phase, consultations were conducted with representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, Mini Industrial Estate, cement factories and feed mills regarding the implementation of the Smog Action Plan.

Participants were directed to ensure mandatory compliance with the Punjab Smog Rules 2023 and complete all required environmental measures within the stipulated timeframe.

The department emphasized that coordinated efforts by industrial and commercial stakeholders are essential to reduce air pollution, control emissions and minimize the impact of smog during the upcoming season.

The consultations are part of the department’s efforts to strengthen environmental compliance and promote cleaner air across Chakwal and Talagang.
