Bestway Group Partners with Geely to Launch Electric and Hybrid Vehicles in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Bestway Group has entered into a strategic partnership with China’s Geely Auto Group to introduce Geely vehicles in Pakistan, with plans to begin imports before shifting to local assembly at its manufacturing facility in Karachi.

Under the agreement, Bestway Automotive (Private) Limited, a subsidiary of Bestway Group, will serve as the exclusive distributor of Geely vehicles in Pakistan. The collaboration is expected to expand the country’s automotive sector by introducing advanced electric and hybrid vehicles while promoting local manufacturing and employment.

The partnership was formally announced during a signing ceremony held at Geely Auto Group’s headquarters in Hangzhou, China.

As part of the initial phase, Geely vehicles will be imported into Pakistan as Completely Built Units (CBUs), allowing customers to access the company’s latest models. In the next stage, production will gradually shift to local assembly at Bestway’s existing automotive plant in Karachi.

Both companies said the long-term collaboration aims to increase localisation, strengthen Pakistan’s automotive supply chain, enhance technical expertise and create new employment opportunities.

Electric and Hybrid Models Planned

Among the first vehicles expected to enter the Pakistani market is the Geely EX5, a fully electric SUV featuring advanced battery technology, intelligent driving features and premium comfort.

The company also plans to introduce the Geely EX2, which became China’s best-selling passenger vehicle in 2025. The compact electric model is designed to combine energy efficiency, smart technology and practical everyday performance.

Another model under consideration is the Geely Starray EM-i, a plug-in hybrid SUV that holds the Guinness World Record for the lowest fuel consumption in its category.

Global Automotive Leader

Geely Auto Group is one of China’s largest privately owned automobile manufacturers and has built a strong international reputation for innovation, engineering excellence and vehicle safety. The company operates an extensive global research and development network and holds numerous patents in advanced automotive technologies.

Over the years, Geely has expanded its global footprint through investments and ownership stakes in several internationally recognised automotive brands, including Volvo, Lotus, Aston Martin, Smart, Zeekr, Lynk & Co, Polestar, Proton and LEVC, among others.

Beyond Cars: Smart Mobility and Space Technology

In addition to vehicle manufacturing, Geely has diversified into smart mobility, digital technology and aerospace. Through its subsidiaries Geespace and Xingji Meizu, the company has developed an integrated ecosystem that connects smartphones, intelligent vehicles and satellite-based communication services.

Geely also operates a commercial constellation of 64 low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, supporting high-precision navigation, advanced vehicle connectivity and the future development of autonomous driving technologies.

Industry observers believe the partnership between Bestway Group and Geely Auto Group could accelerate the adoption of electric and hybrid vehicles in Pakistan while supporting technology transfer, local industrial growth and the country’s transition toward cleaner and more sustainable transportation.
