ASTORE: Thousands of tourists from Punjab and other parts of the country are flocking to the scenic district of Astore to escape the summer heat, leading to a sharp increase in visitors at some of Gilgit-Baltistan’s most popular tourist destinations.
Tourist attractions including Deosai National Park, Rama Valley, Rama Lake, Domel, Aro Valley and Allah Wali Lake are witnessing heavy tourist activity, with visitors drawn by the region’s cool weather, lush green valleys, snow-covered peaks and breathtaking landscapes.
To manage the growing influx, the district administration has put comprehensive arrangements in place on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Astore to ensure the safety and convenience of tourists throughout the season.
Security has been enhanced at all entry and exit points, as well as key checkpoints across the district. Authorities said effective checking and monitoring are being carried out to ensure a safe environment for visitors.
Relevant departments have also been mobilised to maintain smooth traffic flow, provide emergency response and medical services, ensure cleanliness and deliver other essential public facilities at major tourist sites.
The district administration, police and other concerned agencies are working in close coordination to provide tourists with a safe, secure and enjoyable travel experience.
Tourists have been advised to follow traffic regulations, avoid littering, dispose of waste at designated locations and comply with official guidelines to help protect Astore’s fragile natural environment.
Local hotel owners, traders and residents have welcomed the tourism surge, saying the increased visitor arrivals are providing a significant boost to the local economy. They also appreciated the district administration’s arrangements, noting that tourists are expressing satisfaction with the facilities and security measures.
The district administration reaffirmed its commitment to utilising all available resources to facilitate visitors and maintain law and order throughout the peak tourism season.
