Hong Kong: A team of researchers has developed an AI model that can analyze brain scans to detect psychological disorders in adolescents.
According to media reports, a research team from Hong Kong has created an AI model capable of analyzing brain scans to identify mental disorders such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, mood disorders, and psychosis in teenagers.
Professor Anqi Qiu, a health technology professor at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, stated that the model developed by his team could potentially be used as a clinical screening tool to identify individuals at high risk of psychological disorders so that they can receive treatment as early as possible.
Like ChatGPT, this model is also based on artificial neural networks, a type of AI technology that mimics human decision-making processes. The team trained it to identify brain circuits that predict mental illness.
To train the model, Anqi Qiu and his colleagues used data from 1,100 adolescents aged 8 to 21 from various backgrounds and clinical cases.
