The Indian Army has killed 12 civilians under the guise of a so-called military operation against rebels in the state of Chhattisgarh.
According to Indian media, security forces conducted a search operation in the Bejapur district of Chhattisgarh by blocking internal and external routes. The Indian Army claimed that the operation targeted Maoist rebels, resulting in 12 armed individuals being killed in a confrontation.
However, eyewitnesses assert that among those killed were women, and all of the deceased were local residents.
To date, the Indian Army has failed to prove its claims that any weapons or prohibited materials were recovered from the deceased.
A few months ago, in a similar military operation, Indian Army gunfire killed women and children, while claiming the capture of 26 insurgents who allegedly surrendered after discarding their weapons.
It is noteworthy that separatist movements are increasingly gaining strength in several Indian states, including Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Mizoram, and Manipur, with calls for independence from India.
