Twitter competitor Threads is preparing to enter live sports streaming on the platform, initially with the NBA. Meta Platform CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently announced this with the promise of adding more sports leagues in the future.
During the game, users will simply have to search for their teams on the platform to get updated scores. Similar to the X feature that launched in 2017, Threads will show the latest updated scores even after the game is over and even provide game time details ahead of schedule.
The scoreboard will have two team logos, and clicking on either logo will redirect users to an online chat about the team.

After deciding to remove political endorsements from the site, Threads is diving into what it sees as a decent trending topic on social media. NBA discourse has been quite heated on X, with coverage and conversation about the professional basketball league.
Meta seems to be trying to get some of the storm on its own platform and increase user engagement. Apple also recently announced its own sports initiative.
