SC implements strict guidelines for media coverage inside the court

ISLAMABAD: In a bid to maintain decency and security in the hallowed halls of the Supreme Court, strict guidelines have been put in place to restrict media personnel from filming videos, conducting interviews or making YouTube shows inside the Supreme Court premises.

A directive issued by the Registrar of the Supreme Court of Pakistan states that only designated beat reporters who are assigned by their respective media houses to cover the Supreme Court proceedings will be allowed entry. This privilege is subject to the presentation of valid memory cards and the fulfillment of the specified conditions.

Upon arrival, reporters are subject to thorough security checks, including strip searches and bag/wallet searches by police personnel. The Supreme Court emphasizes the necessity of the cooperation of media persons in observing these security measures.

These guidelines specifically prohibit the recording of video clips, interviews or YouTube programs on the premises of the Supreme Court. In addition, the use of cell phones is strictly prohibited in the courtrooms to preserve the sanctity of the court proceedings.
