Pakistan Plans to Provide 100,000 Electric Bikes Within 90 Days

LAHORE: Pakistan has prepared a plan to promote the use of electric bikes across the country, with a target of providing 100,000 electric bikes within 90 days, according to a report published by Roznama Dunya.

Under the proposed scheme, buyers of electric bikes may receive a subsidy of Rs80,000, although the proposal is still under consideration. The Engineering Development Board (EDB) has invited applications from companies for the manufacturing and supply of the electric bikes.

The procurement plan will consist of 200 batches, with 500 electric bikes in each batch, bringing the total target to 100,000 bikes. Companies will be selected through a competitive bidding process, while the initiative will also focus on promoting Pakistan’s local manufacturing industry.

Interested companies can submit their applications through the PPRA e-portal by 11:00 a.m. on November 3, 2026. Each application must be accompanied by a non-refundable fee of Rs5,000.

The Engineering Development Board has also clarified that companies that have already been declared eligible will not need to apply again.

The initiative is expected to support the expansion of electric mobility in Pakistan and encourage greater adoption of cleaner transportation options.
