ISLAMABAD: Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices have remained high across Pakistan despite the arrival of two LPG cargo ships from Oman, raising concerns among consumers who had expected prices to decline following the shipments.
According to a report by 24 News HD, LPG is currently being sold for around Rs600 to Rs650 per kilogram in different parts of the country.
In Karachi, the LPG price has increased to Rs550 per kilogram, while consumers in Peshawar are paying Rs570. The price stands at Rs600 per kilogram in Attock, while LPG is being sold for Rs600 in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Meanwhile, Quetta has recorded a Rs30 reduction, bringing the price there down to Rs520 per kilogram.
The situation is also affecting consumers in Lahore, where LPG shops remained closed for a second consecutive day due to a strike.
The two LPG cargo ships from Oman arrived at Pakistani ports a day earlier, prompting expectations that increased supply would lead to lower prices. However, prices have so far failed to decline significantly.
The continued high cost of LPG is likely to add further pressure on household budgets, particularly for consumers who rely on LPG for cooking and other daily needs.
