Lahore has once again emerged as one of the world’s most polluted cities, with the city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching 344, a level considered hazardous to health.
Pollution levels were even more alarming in some areas. GT Road and Shahdara recorded AQI readings of around 500, while DHA Phase 6 reached 357 and Kahna Nau recorded 342.
Authorities have intensified anti-smog operations following directives from the Punjab government. Lahore Traffic Police has established special checkpoints, while vehicles emitting excessive smoke face strict action, including possible suspension of driving licences.
The city administration has also restricted the entry of uncovered soil and sand trolleys and dumpers to reduce pollution levels.
