CDA Intensifies Citywide Cleanliness Campaign to Keep Islamabad Green and Pollution-Free

ISLAMABAD, October 17, 2026: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has intensified its citywide cleanliness campaign to maintain Islamabad as a clean, green, pollution-free, healthy and safe capital.

The campaign is being carried out under the leadership of CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf and the supervision of Member Environment Abdullah Khurram Niazi, with a focus on improving sanitation standards, ensuring timely waste collection and maintaining public spaces across the federal capital.

According to the CDA, its comprehensive cleanliness drive continues throughout the year and aims to improve the urban environment, preserve Islamabad’s natural beauty and enhance the overall quality of life for residents.

On the chairman’s directives, the Environment Wing is conducting coordinated cleaning operations across various sectors, roads, streets, green belts, parks and other public places. The activities include regular solid waste collection and disposal, removal of accumulated rubbish, and cleaning of roadside areas and public spaces.

Field teams and sanitation workers are working to ensure the effective implementation of the campaign, with particular attention to operational efficiency, field-level monitoring and the consistent delivery of sanitation services.

CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf emphasised the importance of keeping Islamabad clean, green and free from pollution. He said a clean and well-managed capital was essential for public health, environmental sustainability and an improved quality of life.

He reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards and improving municipal services throughout the city.

Member Environment Abdullah Khurram Niazi is overseeing sanitation activities to ensure that operational priorities are addressed and field teams remain focused on maintaining a clean and healthy urban environment.

The authority said the campaign had received appreciation from citizens, who highlighted the importance of clean public spaces and effective waste management. The initiative also underscores the need for sustained institutional efforts and responsible public behaviour to address sanitation challenges.

The CDA has urged residents to dispose of waste properly, avoid littering in public places, protect green spaces and cooperate with sanitation teams to maintain cleanliness in their neighbourhoods.

The authority stressed that cleanliness is not merely a routine municipal responsibility but also an important component of environmental protection, disease prevention, effective urban management and sustainable development.

The CDA said it would continue efforts to improve sanitation standards and strengthen environmental management across Islamabad, with the goal of maintaining a cleaner, greener and healthier capital for residents, visitors and future generations.
