ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB), in collaboration with WWF-Pakistan, has organised an awareness session to educate students about protecting wildlife in Margalla Hills National Park, with a special focus on the endangered pangolin.
More than 60 students took part in the session and pledged to help protect wildlife and the natural environment.
The activity aimed to raise awareness about the importance of conserving native species and protecting the ecological balance of Margalla Hills. Pangolins face serious threats from illegal hunting and wildlife trafficking, making public awareness and stronger conservation efforts important for their survival.
The session also highlighted the role young people can play in protecting biodiversity. By learning about local wildlife and the threats it faces, students can help spread conservation messages within their families, schools and communities.
Margalla Hills National Park is an important natural area around Islamabad, providing habitat for a variety of wildlife. Protecting its ecosystems is essential for maintaining biodiversity and supporting a healthy natural environment.
The collaboration between IWMB and WWF-Pakistan reflects the importance of public education and community participation in wildlife conservation. Engaging students at an early age can help build a stronger sense of responsibility towards nature and encourage long-term environmental protection.
