ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) hosted the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Prime Minister’s Committee on Animal Cruelty on October 7 to strengthen the One Health approach in Margalla Hills National Park.
The meeting focused on improving the capacity of frontline wildlife staff in handling animals and strengthening practical measures for wildlife protection.
Officials also discussed strategic programmes aimed at promoting peaceful human-wildlife coexistence in and around the national park.
The One Health approach recognizes the close links between human health, animal health and the environment. Strengthening wildlife management can help protect biodiversity while also reducing risks linked to human-wildlife conflict and wildlife health concerns.
The collaboration is expected to support better wildlife handling practices, improve the skills of field staff and promote more effective conservation measures in Margalla Hills National Park.
The initiative also highlights the importance of cooperation among wildlife authorities, international organizations and relevant government institutions in protecting natural ecosystems and building a more sustainable future for both people and wildlife.
