KARACHI: A delegation of the Young Leaders Parliament Sindh visited the Office of the Ombudsman Sindh and held a meeting with senior officials to discuss public grievance redressal, access to justice, civic awareness and climate and disaster justice.
The delegation met Secretary Ombudsman Sindh Syed Junaid Ahmed, Director Coordination and Director Climate and Disaster Justice Unit (CDJU) Dr. Imdad Hussain Siddiqui, and Advisor to the Ombudsman Sindh Rehana Ghulam Ali Memon.
During the meeting, officials briefed the young leaders about the role of the Ombudsman Sindh, mechanisms for resolving public complaints and efforts to make access to justice easier for citizens. The discussion also covered the importance of strengthening civic awareness among young people.
The delegation received a briefing on the Complaint Management System (CMS), an online platform through which citizens can submit complaints and track their progress. Members of the delegation also filed an online complaint through the system to understand its functioning.
The delegation also visited the Climate and Disaster Justice Unit (CDJU), where officials briefed them about initiatives related to climate justice, disaster response, protection of vulnerable communities, public awareness and institutional coordination.
The visit highlighted the growing importance of connecting climate action and disaster management with access to justice, particularly for communities that are more vulnerable to environmental and climate-related risks.
Members of the delegation appreciated the work of the Ombudsman Sindh and the Climate and Disaster Justice Unit and expressed interest in further cooperation to promote youth participation, civic awareness and access to justice.
The delegation included Kashif Saleem Memon, Youth Chief Minister Sindh; Owais Khursheed Qaim Khani, Youth Governor Sindh; Zaron Junaid, Coordinator YLP Sindh; Mian Abdul Rasheed, Youth Minister for Education; Faizan Khan Chamut, Youth Minister for Works and Communications; Abdullah, Youth Minister for Social Welfare; and members Purushottam Kapoor, Saleemullah Khan and Zain Ahmed.
The meeting was described as an important step towards strengthening civic engagement among young people and building more effective links between youth and public institutions.
