ISLAMABAD: A policy dialogue has called for stronger regulations on tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship (TAPS) and larger graphic health warnings on cigarette packs to help protect young people and public health.
Ms. Farah Naz Akbar, Parliamentary Secretary, National Heritage and Culture Division, participated as the chief guest at the policy dialogue titled “Strengthening TAPS Regulations and Increasing Graphic Health Warnings on Cigarette Packs.”
Speaking at the event, Farah Naz Akbar highlighted concerns over tobacco advertising and promotion and their potential impact on young people and public health. She stressed the importance of strengthening regulations governing tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship.

The dialogue also focused on increasing the size and visibility of graphic health warnings on cigarette packaging as part of broader efforts to raise public awareness about the health risks associated with tobacco use.
Farah Naz Akbar said Pakistan remains committed to fulfilling its obligations under the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO-FCTC) and to protecting future generations from the harmful effects of tobacco.
The policy dialogue brought attention to the need for effective tobacco-control measures, stronger implementation of regulations and continued cooperation among relevant stakeholders to address tobacco-related public health concerns.
