ISLAMABAD: The Directorate of Student Affairs (Male) at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), in collaboration with the Green Youth Movement Club (Male) and Wise Water Pakistan (WWP), organised a seminar on “Climate Change and Career Development” at the Auditorium of Faculty Block-II.
The seminar aimed to increase students’ understanding of climate change and environmental challenges while helping them make informed decisions about their academic and professional futures.
The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the National Anthem of Pakistan. Students Advisor (Male) Dr. Ghufran Ahmad welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of creating awareness among students about environmental issues and career planning.
He said educational institutions have an important role in equipping young people with the knowledge and skills needed to respond to emerging social, environmental and professional challenges.

Dr. Asad Ghufran delivered a session on climate change and stressed the importance of protecting the environment for present and future generations. He said addressing climate challenges requires responsible individual behaviour, institutional commitment and the adoption of sustainable practices.
The keynote session on career development was delivered by Capt. (R) Taimur Bukhari, CEO of Read Write Institute (Pvt.) Ltd., Lahore. He discussed career counselling, goal setting and the importance of connecting educational choices with emerging opportunities in the public and private sectors.
Drawing on his professional experience, he encouraged students to plan their careers proactively, develop relevant skills and make informed professional decisions.
An interactive question-and-answer session allowed students to seek guidance on career planning and professional matters. The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Ghufran Ahmad, who appreciated the collaborating organisations, speakers and participants.
A group photograph was also taken, followed by the distribution of lunch boxes among the attendees.
The seminar reflected IIUI’s efforts to promote practical learning, professional skills and environmental awareness among students. It also supported the broader objectives of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 on Quality Education, by encouraging young people to develop the knowledge, skills and responsibility needed to contribute to a more sustainable society.
