Bhimber: Azad Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Forests, Wildlife and Fisheries Col. (Retd.) Waqar Ahmed Noor has stressed that forest protection requires practical action and effective implementation rather than theoretical discussion.
During his visit to Samahni, the minister received a departmental briefing at Jandi Chontra Rest House and inspected local forests, afforestation initiatives, sawmills and timber yards. He warned that negligence in preventing forest fires would lead to strict accountability, while forest guards found submitting false reports would also face disciplinary action.
The visit was attended by MLA Chaudhry Muhammad Razzaq, former MLA Raja Maqsood Ahmed Khan, Assistant Commissioner Samahni Sardar Parvez and other community and administrative representatives. Recent reporting also shows the minister has directed AJK forest officials to strengthen forest protection, afforestation and action against illegal logging.
