LAHORE: The second day of the 3rd National Bamboo Conference 2026 was held at Rana Safari and Luxury Resort, Head Balloki, featuring academic discussions, technical sessions, a closing ceremony and a safari tour.
The day provided participants with an opportunity to exchange ideas on bamboo, sustainability and environmental issues while also experiencing the natural and recreational surroundings of the venue.
Prof. Dr. Shahid Imran, Vice Chancellor of Baba Guru Nanak University (BGNU), attended the proceedings as Chief Guest. The event was also attended by BGNU Registrar Mubashar Tariq, Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology Prof. Dr. Kafeel Ahmad, CEO Agri Tourism Development Corporation of Pakistan Tariq Tanvir, CEO Ideal College Sheikhupura Engr. Muhammad Imtiaz Asad and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Alam of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality at Hazara University Mansehra.
Prof. Dr. Naeem Qaisar of the College of Pharmacy, University of Sargodha, Rashed Saeed of Ayub Agricultural Research Institute Faisalabad, poet Mohsin Shakoori, Shahzad Umrani from Sindh and environmental activists also participated in the conference.
Participants were hosted by Begum Nasira Shoukat, Founder of Rana Safari and Luxury Resort, and Prof. Dr. Ayesha Shoukat, CEO of the resort. They facilitated the activities and provided participants with an opportunity to explore the natural environment and recreational facilities of the venue.
The conference was organized by the Department of Botany at BGNU in collaboration with the Agri Tourism Development Corporation of Pakistan, Rana Safari and Luxury Resort, and Ideal College Sheikhupura.
The organizers said the efforts of Dr. Muhammad Adeel Ghaffar and Dr. Nazim Hussain played an important role in the successful organization of the conference, which brought together academics, researchers, environmental activists and other participants to discuss the importance of bamboo and sustainable development.
