ISA KHEL: Young environmental activist Sameer Tariq from Chappari, Tehsil Isa Khel, has been selected for the “Green Hero Award” in recognition of his efforts for environmental protection, tree plantation, water conservation and restoration of natural resources.
The award has been announced by the Department of Botany at Baba Guru Nanak University, Nankana Sahib, in recognition of Sameer Tariq’s environmental work and his efforts to promote greater awareness about protecting nature.
Sameer Tariq has worked on initiatives including rainwater recharge, construction of small dams, tree plantation and the distribution of free saplings in the Khattak Belt and other underserved areas.
He said every tree represents hope and every drop of conserved water is an investment in the future. He also described environmental protection as a shared responsibility.
According to Sameer Tariq, his efforts are aimed not only at improving present conditions but also at helping build a greener, safer and more sustainable Pakistan for future generations.
Expressing gratitude to Baba Guru Nanak University and the organisers of the 3rd National Bamboo Conference, he said being recognised for environmental services was a matter of pride for him. At the same time, he described the award as a new responsibility to continue working for the protection of trees, water resources and the natural environment.
Sameer Tariq’s recognition highlights the growing role of young people in environmental protection and provides an encouraging example of how community-level action can contribute to conservation and climate resilience.
